An affirmation opens the way
It is the beginning point of change
Every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation
Every time you get angry you are affirming that you want more anger in your life
Every time you feel like a victim you are affirming that you want to continue to feel like a victim
If you feel that life does not give you what you want in your world, then it is certain you will never have the goodies life gives to others until you change the way you think and talk.

With the advent of warm weather and early sunrises, I have modified my morning routine to walking rather than using the elliptical. I walk for about 45 minutes and get about 4,000 steps before breakfast. Over the last two weeks, there has been only one day where I missed my 10,000 step goal, and that day I missed it by only 800 steps.
Anyway, I’ve also discovered a series of video blogs on YouTube focusing on self-awareness and positive thinking. These are something I used to find corny. But I have to tell you there is something about purposefully thinking positively, especially during the first hour of the day. So for the first half of my walk I will listen to a motivational video, which is usually a montage of different speeches of talks from different people.
The quote above and link to the YouTube video is a quick 5-minute example of what I am talking about. This one has become a staple I listen to every other day. As the quote reminds us, our mindset is a choice. If we chose to feel anger, we will. If we chose to be a victim, we will. But if we chose positive outcomes, and positive personal change, it will happen.
Some other of my recent favorites are:
As I look to the future and the stressors of aging parents, changing careers, and moves to new states and cultures, it is easy to get overwhelmed. We deal with these issues while maintaining our current profession, household and relations. So my little morning ritual has become a sparkplug to start my daily engine. To help put me in a positive and forward looking state of mind to continue forward progress and to live the life I want to have.
So check out the links, enjoy the words, and meditate on their meaning. Since my walk takes longer than my elliptical was, I usually meditate on what I listened to during the second half of the walk. I find that listening without contemplation does not have the same lasting impact.
I hope you have an awesome week. If you have recordings that spur you on, please comment. I look forward to your comments.
